Scott Ly was born in Houston, Texas, USA. Scott was a natural athlete. He excelled at sports and was the captain of his wrestling and basketball teams, and later studied Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. One of four siblings, his parents emigrated from Vietnam during the war.
