Derrick Gilbert (II) was born in Statesboro, Georgia to Derrick and Shannoda Gilbert. Derrick is a military brat. His mother and father served in the United States Army. Derrick is known for his cute dimples which landed him numerous modeling roles. At the age of 5 Derrick knew he wanted to model,dance, sing, and become a actor. He started off with an agency based out of Dallas, Texas in which one week after he signed he received numerous calls for commercials, modeling, and short films.
